Description

This is a Corona Zephyr antique manual typewriter in olive. I've restored this machine to working condition, and it is ready to go as soon as you get it home.

The Corona Zephyr was Corona's entry into the ultra-portable typewriter market. The typewriter is somewhat uncommon as it was designed to compete against the Hermes Baby and was first introduced in 1938, with production halting in 1941. This version only sold for a few years just before the war and was later re-introduced as the Corona Skywriter, though that version had some mechanical changes.

Like all my machines, this Corona 4 has been cleaned, repaired, lubricated, adjusted, and is ready to use a soon as you get it home.

**COSMETIC CONDITION**
Cosmetically, this Corona 4 antique typewriter is in very good condition. The olive paint with the nickel-rimmed, glass-topped keys is a somewhat unique color combination, as most of Corona's olive-colored machines were made after the war, and none of those had the nickel-rimmed keys.

There are some paint scratches and wear marks on this machine, as well as some fading on the decals and some paint, but nothing uncommon for a machine from this time. Overall, this Corona Zephyr is a nice example of a machine that bridges the gap between the pre and post-war years.

This Corona Zephyr does come with a metal snap-on carrying case, but the case does not currently stay closed and lacks a handle. I will try to repair the clasping mechanism and will update this listing if I do.

**MECHANICAL CONDITION**
Mechanically, this Corona typewriter is in good condition. The keys are responsive, all control features function, and it is ready to type with a newly installed black ribbon. Some of the control features are a bit tight, which isn't unusual. The platen is still in relatively good condition and will leave indentations in the page but no cutouts.

**INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING**
Yes, I ship internationally. If you're located outside the continental United States, contact me and I can provide a shipping quote.

**RECOMMENDED BUYER**
I believe this Corona Zephyr ultra-portable typewriter would be excellent for either a collector, designer, or a writer who wants a stylish machine to use for occasional notes, cards, or even letters. This is a great looking machine, and in great shape. This vintage typewriter is ready to be used, but I would not recommend it for someone interested in heavy writing duties. (A later, more user-friendly machine would be better suited to your needs if you intend to write a lot. ) For anyone else, this machine will be a joy.

Thank you, and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Arrived faster than predicted and my Olympia SM7 no longer dances all over the table top! And so much quieter now, too!

My typewriter - I named him Don Draper - is happy in his new home. It arrived meticulously packaged, with photocopied pages of the original owners manual and custom maintenance and care, along with a personalized note from Mark and his offer of help at any time! Wonderful shop! (The space bar does stick, but since I have Mark’s info I’ll contact him if unable to fix on our own. Not worried! :-)

Just received my Olympia SM-9 and it is working beautifully. It arrived early and was meticulously packaged—and it looks even better in person than in the pictures! As a first time typewriter owner, I had about a million questions, and Mark very kindly, patiently, and informatively walked me through all the questions I had. If I’m ever in the market for another typewriter, I know where I’m going first! Hugely recommend!

I love this typewriter! Communicating with the seller was easy--fast responses--and as a first-time typewriter owner, his detailed description of the Olympia SM9, and all of the descriptions on his items, were really, really useful, and accurate. The typewriter arrived well wrapped and protected, intact, with a carrying case. I have been using it to draft the novel I'm working on, and it's a dream to use. I did have to get used to the more...athletic motions of typing, but it didn't take long at all, and it's way more fun than typing on my MacBook Air keyboard!
