Cute, sweet and charming are all words that describe the Cozy. This sharing library follows the character of Todd’s Dream Series from Share With Others by having a four-panel wood door. It’s a medium sized library with one shelf - slightly smaller than SWO’s Classic library - and offers plenty of room to serve neighborhoods with average sharing activity.

The Cozy is constructed out of a mix of pine and exterior-rated wood products, ready for sealant and creative finishing touches. Its construction materials include exterior wood glues and silicones to assure a water-tight roof. The door’s window is made out of sturdy plexiglass and has an upper drip-lip that pushes water away to keep moisture out. The door itself has a magnetic clasp to make sure that it stays closed after every use. Additionally, the Cozy has a heavy wood base that is heftier than the most lending libraries on the market. This base provides superior core strength, which assures a stable connection to the mounting pole of your choice.

As part of the Todd’s Dream Series, the Cozy also fits the entire SWO line of library accessories, including weathervane (in pics), garden planters, metal iconic quote plaques, and SWO’s own well-crafted pole topper sized specifically for the Cozy. All items sold separately.

We’ve ALSO created the option to add a 5-1/2” deep mini shelf that sits 11” from the floor. This is for Cozy library stewards who want to place smaller items, like paperback books or canned goods, in the upper area of their library, taking up the headroom of the interior gabled space. This shelf is visible with the library door open. It’s $24.99 to add to your library.

You can add a heavy duty buffed steel roof (12 gauge) that’s maintenance free for the Cozy! We seal the wood roof with a weather resistant product before adding the metal roof for you. Rubber washers are used to ensure a tight seal at each screw. The buffed steel will patina to a rust-color overtime. If you like the look of buffed steel, you can spray it with a clear polyurethane. If you want color, you can spray the roof with any rust resistant paint to achieve the color of your choice. Metal roof corners are rounded and edges are smooth to the touch. It’s $49.99 to add to your library.

The Bol family at Share With Others®️ is not affiliated with the Little Free Library nonprofit organization. We fully endorse them and wish them every success. After Todd Bol passed away very unexpectedly at the end of 2018, the nonprofit cut ties with us. No Bol family members are involved in any ongoing capacity with the nonprofit, even though our close ties predate it and continued right up until Todd’s passing. The Bol family started SWO at Todd’s request, while in hospice, to continue his legacy with his immediate and extended family engaged and to embrace the entire front yard sharing movement that Todd’s Johnny Appleseed-like enthusiasm sparked. Your sharing library is made of wood, and raw wood needs to be painted or stained to protect it from water and sun damage. Standard exterior house paints are durable, inexpensive, readily available, and an all-around good option. We recommend applying a coat of primer before painting; the primer is designed to bond well with wood and will help your paint adhere better. Apply more than one coat of paint for extra weather protection, and reapply every 1 to 2 years, or as needed. If you love to see the wood grain, use outdoor transparent or outdoor semi-transparent stain — our favorite at SWO.

Use a 9/16” wrench to install the carriage bolts included with your pole topper purchase. Insert bolts into the pre-drilled guide holes on the inside floor of your SWO library and then screw them through the pre-drilled guide holes on the pole topper. Make sure to add the washer and nut at the bottom of the bolt before tightening. Tighten until the square edge of the bolt’s top is pulled into the library’s floor. Before completing the above, make sure the pole topper is already attached to a 4x4 weather treated post that’s been installed in the ground. All installation hardware provided.

You’ll need to purchase a 6 ft. – 4” x 4” weather treated post, which will need to be cut down to 4 ft for installation (usually a free service at your local supplier). Bury it 16” to 18” while leaving a length of about 30” from the base of the library to the ground, making it child friendly. There’s no need to use cement during the process. We recommend pouring a bag of pea gravel along the sides of the the post after its placed and then packing in the dirt tightly, allowing for drainage and the ability to remove the post at a later date. Place the pole topper on the post with pre-drilled guide holes facing backside. Use the three 2” screws provided to secure. Next, attach the library to the pole topper, as described in the section above.
