About This Image:

I love the rain. . . have I said that before? I grew up in awe of the midwest thunderstorm and was fortunate enough to have grandparents that taught me to embrace, and not fear it, as it roared. They were magical and ominous all at once.

And, the rain brings silence.
It quiets the city,
It releases the essence of nature into the air.
The sense memory runs so deep. . .

And life brings rain too. Some fear it and some, if they are taught well, embrace it and simply soak it up. There is no perfectly sunny place. No perfectly sunny life. And all of those umbrellas we carry won't stop a really good storm.

So just let go. . . and get really wet.
It washes away so much.
It is necessary
For the growing things
In the ground and
In us

"When It Rains"

When it rains
Put your ear to the ground
And listen for the sound of approaching thunder
That low,languid rumble
So lost and lonely
It must come from somewhere deep inside of us

When it rains
Turn your face to the wind
And feel it move around you
So true to form
It must be the nature of the divine
The remains of every soul
Now set free

When it rains
Open yourself to the storm
Inside and out
The darkness will pass
The sun will show again
And things may end
Then things may begin
Everything will be
