Vintage Grosvenor China Teacup and Saucer With Pink Roses. 1920 English Antique China Tea Cup Duo. Vintage Teacup And Saucer For A Tea Party

Description ~

This English teacup and saucer is from the roaring 1920s and is so stylish. The beautiful transfer printed pattern of flowers and elegant repeated patterns is very beautiful and is highlighted by beautiful repeating pink roses. The pattern really stands out against the white of the china. The maker's mark is that of Jackson & Gosling, a pottery in Longton, Stoke-On-Trent, in the heart of the English potteries. It has been produced under their highly collected and famous 'Grosvenor China' label. The teacup and the saucer are a complete original set, but I think they were produced at a time when Jackson & Gosling were moving from one style of back stamp (maker's mark) to another. This explains which their stamp on the saucer differs to the one on the teacup, but both are contemporary. The saucer's green back stamp dates to 1914 onwards. The teacup's back stamp dates to 1919 onwards. So its fair to say that this teacup and saucer most likely dates to around 1919 or 1920. Elegant and eye catching, this pretty pattern is just as lovely and desirable today as when it was made in the early twentieth century. It would have been a very pretty and joyful looking teacup, for a Britain that had just come through the dark and awful years of World War One. The china is very delicate and transluscent when held up in the light - this teacup feels very special to use indeed. This teacup and saucer would stand out proudly on your tea table and would also display beautifully. It is perfect for serving tea and cake at a quintessentially English teatime.

A lovely gift for any occasion and especially for serving tea and cake.

Perfect for a tea set or antique china collector, or as a gift to someone who loves tea, cake pretty china! It would also make a wonderful gift for a special occasion such as a birthday or baby shower.

Condition ~

In good antique condition. There is a rubbing to the rim gilding in places, but this is minor and commensurate with age. There are some little tiny pin prick sized flecks in the china in places and shown in the photos. This is a natural occurrence of the contemporary manufacturing process at the time and reflects the teacup and saucer's history. There is no crazing to the glaze as far as I can see. Please ask you would like any further photos and please remember that this teacup is around 100 hundred years old and therefore cannot be in pristine 'brand new condition', but is in very good antique condition and is perfectly usable. Any further wear or marks are commensurate with age.
