We call this "Empress Josephine" a period piece inspired by the dresses of the Napoleon Era. You can visualize this on the dance floor , the woman holding up one side of her dress while turning on the hand of a debinare man in his wonderful embroidered waistcoat . This is a Bellasoiree original which features an exquisite patterned lame reminiscent of Fortuny, with gold lame and coral silk. The small cap sleeves are trimmed with bronze metallic lace and handmade metallic tassels dating to the Turn of the Century, France. The bodice is embellished with a unique metallic and coral leaflike trim. The empire waist features a wonderful old metallic filigree passementerie trim that gives this creation it's period style. Museum quality pieces, nothing on this dress is less than 90 years old.
The back of this piece is also inspired by the period. Photos show the beautiful pleat that flows down the back adding interest and repeats the metallic applique trim along the lower bust. The back (hemline) of this dress is longer than the front which is another detail of the era. The fabric has all been restored and is ready to wear to any special event. The size of this dress will fit a size 4-6.m Just reduced from $900 through October.
