This contemporary, handmade fabric hanging depicts a night scene of an arbutus tree on the shores of a Gulf Island on the West Coast of British Columbia. Many shades of gray, black and white fabric are pieced to together to create the night scene of the background. The arbutus tree is shown as a black silhouette. The many layers of fabric are then quilted and machine embroidered with rayon thread. The binding and backing are constructed using black cotton. The hanging is mounted in an 18”x 24” open box-frame. This enhances the view of the varied textures. The frame is made of wood with a white background in a black frame ready for hanging.
The art is available without the frame for $700. and less postage. I can add a cloth hanger to the back of the piece or you can frame it yourself.
