Laine feutrée

I love this original and unique small “painting”. It is made with felted wool fibers. I like to play with colors, textures and reliefs to create an original visual from which an impressionist landscape emerges.

This wool paintin” has been made using both techniques: wet felting and needle felting. It is made with 100% wool fibers.

The background was first wet felted and then I added the texture and relief using felting needles. When the felting process is completed, I embellished the piece with embroidery.

The finished piece was mounted onto another piece of felted piece and set onto the wooden hoop. There is a ring on the back to hang it on the wall (look at the last picture). You can also simply lay it flat on your desk. Each piece is unique.

FRAME: Framed in a wooden hoop.

******* SIZE: 4 inches in diameter *******

MEDIUM: Fiber art
MATERIALS: 100% wool
TECHNIQUE: Needle and Wet felting
FRAMED: Painting is nicely framed nside a light bamboo wooden hoop
READY TO HANG: Yes

ABOUT NEEDLE FELTING :
Wool is a fiber that has tiny scales that help it to stick together. Felting needles have sharp and tiny barbs that tangle fiber into felt with a repetitive jabbing motion. The barbs are going in one direction and when the needle is stabbed into the wool the barbs pull the wool in, but not back out again. Stabbing the wool over and over again meshes the wool fibers together, creating a firm, textile object.
Please keep in mind that all computer screens vary in color hue, saturation, brightness and contrast, therefore your print may appear slightly different than what appears on your screen.

Thank you for shopping with Lululalaine!

The merino top roving and Corriedale batts are produce with respect of the environment (Oeko-Tex certification). These fibers are also produce with respect of the health of the sheep and I only propose non-mulesed Merino (No-mulesing Certification).

Oeko-tex Certification :
Dyed fibers has organic based dyes. They meet the human-ecological requirements of the standard according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and present zero health risks.
More info here: www.oeko-tex.com

No-Mulesing Certification : I am working with serious suppliers who are aware that sheeps are raised gently and treated with respect. Merino wool fibers are no-mulesing certified.
There is a minimal processing in the production of the Fine Merino wool batts because we believe that the industry processes of using acids to burn out the VM (Vegetable matter) are unacceptable from an environmental point of view. This means that some VM remain in the fleeces and we remove them after by hand-sorting.

My producer is responsible for all of his wastewater management and protecting environment is very important to him. Wool fibers are washed with one wash in a plant-based, readily biodegradable detergent, then rinse with water. The dyed batts are first dyed with standard acid leveling dyes for protein fibres (not organic).
