This easy-to-knit purse can be made with or without an optional lining. Intermediate sewing skills are recommended if you intend to make a purse with the lining.
Twelve pictures are included in the step-by-step instructions to the lining, to illustrate each step.

Besides basic knit and purl stitches, the knitter will need to know how to knit in the round, K1fb and how to do a 3-needle bind-off (YouTube.com is a great resource for instructional knitting videos if you're not familiar with any of these knitting techniques - none of them are difficult once you see how they are done.)

Materials for bag:

29" Size 13 Round Needle
Size 13 straight or double-pointed needle
29" round needle in a smaller size (anything
between #6-10 works well)
Worsted 100% wool suitable for felting 700-1300
yards total, depending on purse size

Materials for optional lining:

1 yard of fabric for lining
1.5 yards of coordinating ribbon
EITHER 4 metal rings (rings from example pictured
were purchased in the curtain department)
OR large size grommets
1 package double fold bias tape (should match
lining)
Thread to match lining/bias tape (for lining) and
ribbon (will show on outside
of the bag) and heavy-duty thread to sew cotton
belting handles
Magnetic snap closure (example purchased at JoAnn
Fabrics)
1 metal flower ornament (flower shown was
purchased at Michael's craft store
4" (shown) or 6" zipper for interior pocket of bag
Handles:
EITHER: 4 large metal swivel clasps (clasps shown
are from JoAnn Fabrics)
2 yards of 1" cotton belting
OR:Pre-made purse handles (available on-line or
at JoAnn Fabrics)

Finished sizes for bags (after felting) are approximately:
Small: 9" wide, 10" tall, 4" deep
Medium:10.5" wide, 12" tall, 4.5" deep (Med. is just a larger version of the small example shown)
Large: 12" wide, 10.5" tall, 5" deep (Large bag is wider than it is tall, so it will not look exactly like the small example in the photos)
