Rug Hooking Kit - Primitive Flowers on Linen - Finished size 10 1/2" x 14 1/2"

If you are new to rug hooking please read the entire listing as I have added a bunch of helpful information below.

What This Kit Includes:

All of my kits come with a pattern drawn on linen with a generous 4" serged border, a color photo and hand dyed wool strips that have been cut using a rotary cutter, mat and ruler. Wool strips will vary from a #8 - #8.5 cut {for the most part}. There may even be a few strips that are smaller or larger than a #8 - #8.5 cut.

This is the only way I sell my kits. I do not offer kits with uncut wool.

The way I cut my wool strips is pretty old school, but I've been hooking rugs for almost 20 years and this is how I achieve the primitive style rugs I hook. I do not own a wool stripper machine and I cannot cut strips in any other size. If you are super particular, or need all of your wool strips to be exactly the same size, this may not be the kit for you.

I hand dyed all the wool for this kit in my New England home studio.

What this kit INCLUDES:

Pattern drawn on soft linen

Color photo

Wool strips

This Kit DOES NOT Include:

Rug hook, hoop/hooking frame, instructions on how to hook, or the finished product

If you need to purchase a rug hook, they are available here:

The Irish Hook 6mm pencil is by far my favorite hook. Here is the listing: It's very smooth and feels just right when you hold it.

I learned with a primitive Joan Moshimer here is the listing:

If this is your first time hooking, I highly recommend starting with the primitive Joan Moshimer hook so you can get a feel for hooking in general to see whether or not it's a hobby you want to invest in.

Most beginning hookers use a simple embroidery or quilting hoop to start with. You can pick one up at any fabric or craft store for a few dollars.

I taught myself to rug hook almost 20 years ago through trial and error {before the days of YouTube and before my local library had books on rug hooking} and because I had no guidance, I actually taught myself to hook without using any sort of frame or hoop.

It wasn't until several years later, that I actually discovered I had taught myself to hook the wrong way, and to this day, I still don't use a frame or a hoop.

And while I find the way I hook easy, if I had to do it all over again, it would have been much easier {and less frustrating} to have been able to watch a video and to learn to hook the correct way.

Deanne Fitzpatrick has some wonderful videos on how to hook rugs and I have added a link for you below. Her style of finished rugs is a lot different from mine, but she does a wonderful job explaining everything you need to know.

I hope you find it helpful.

Lisanne has some great videos as well.

I am a visual learner, so watching someone hook is much easier to understand than reading instructions {and hoping you're getting it right in my opinion}.

Below you find a link to Barnett's Hoops on Etsy so you can see how to position your fabric on a hoop. Here is the link in case you want to see more pictures.

If you have anymore questions, let me know and I'll try to help.

Beautiful kit and great customer service. This my first hooking kit and I was given recommendations for what needle to purchase and good tutorials that have help me start my my project. This would probably not been my first kit if I understood how much skill is needed to make a hanging but it has definitely been a good experience. Would definitely buy from her again!!!
