A Different Drummer #20 is part of a series of quilts that depicts African ladies in the center of the quilt. The series is intended to provide a way for the quilt lover to own an original piece of art without making a major investment.

The quilt measures 24 x 31 inches. It is machine pieced and quilted in a cross hatch pattern. The fabric and the batting is 100 per cent cotton. The quilt is embellished with a buttons, beads and crystals and the word "Preservere".

There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display. A label on the back documents the quilt, and it is signed and dated by the quilter O.V. Brantley.

The series gets its name from the fabric on the back of the early quilts in the series. It was called Drums of Africa by Sonie Ruffin.
