This set of six 1930s Noritake Antonia china rimmed soup bowls were manufactured in the 1930s and sold to match a full dinner service. The first intention for their use was to serve individual portions of a the soup course of a full meal, but in today's world their size, shape, and capacity is a practical one, as well an attractive one for serving a huge variety of foods at individual places at the table, or as a common dish to passed around for the whole group to share. They would nice for individual bowls of cereal in the morning, for individual portions of soup or salad at lunch or supper, or for dessert at any time of day. These bowls also make nice serving dishes for passed around side dishes either when you have a small group for dinner, or you have a dish that individuals commonly sample in small portions -- e.g. cranberry sauce.

These bowls relatively shallow depth also allows them to stack compactly in your cabinet or any kind of washing or drying rack.

With their manufacturing date in the 1930s these are relatively early Noritake, but with their warm but neutral color pallet and lacy bordered look interrupted by flower sprays, they proved to be so popular that, as time went on, the company produced more of this type of pattern in other variations of color and small details. Today these various lacy patterns are often collected to be mixed together on the table to create the coordinated rather than matched look that is especially popular in this second decade of the 21st century.

Bowl dimensions = 8"w x 1 1/2"h These six bowls are in gorgeous condition --- not even any losses to the gold edging. They would be great in your home or to give as a gift -- especially to one who loves the fun and originality of mixing and matching and combining old with new to create a unique individual look.
