Southern Silky Oak
Grevillea robusta

Southern Silky Oak is a fast growing native to the eastern coastal region of Australia. It is the largest tree in the Grevillia genus with trunk diameters exceeding 1 m on mature trees and a height of up to 35 m.  They are commonly seen in south east Queensland and are easily cultivated.
The common name reflects the silky texture of freshly split wood and the prominent ray cells that resemble those found in English Oak. The non-durable, yet attractive wood was traditionally used for furniture, particularly table tops, and can be seen in a lot of antique furniture.
Based on early utilisation, Silky Oak has established a reputation as a quality furniture timber.

Jarrah
“Eucalyptus marginata”

Jarrah is a unique Australian hardwood renowned for its versatility. Jarrah trees grow on the iron and aluminium rich plains of south-western corner of Western Australia, from the ranges east of Perth down to Albany. They are slow growing, their roots often reaching to great depths in search of nutrients and water. Their long, straight trunks, can grow up to 40 metres tall and 2 metres in diameter, creating beautifully coloured and grained timbers, which reflect the hues of the Western Australian landscape. The heartwood varies in colour from rich reds to browns. The texture of the timber is moderately coarse and even-textured grain, although some interlocked, wavy grain may feature, creating interesting fiddle- back figuring. Jarrah's decorative qualities make it prized for use in furniture, turnery, joinery and parquetry.

Tiger Myrtle
“Nothofagus cunninghamii “

Myrtle is a large, spreading evergreen tree up to 40 m tall with a stem diameter between 150 and 250 cm in favourable environments, but is often a dense understorey shrub 6–18 m high in wet eucalypt forest and at higher altitudes. The trunk is slightly buttressed, fluted and often swollen at the base. The outer bark is brown or deep red to pink, scaly and slightly fibrous and remains attached to the tree for life.
Tiger Myrtle is perhaps the rarest of the Myrtle colour decorations, the “tiger stripe” of contrasting dark brown - black is caused by fungal discoloration. Tiger Myrtle is most often produced from cull trees with too much centre defect to meet pulpwood specifications. The most dominant tiger stripe is displayed in quarter sawn timber.
It is an excellent cabinetry timber which is hard and strong, with close grain. It is a soft pink, often figured and can be polished to a fine sheen. Used for flooring, joinery, cogs of wheels, and furniture. It is harvested from old growth forest but the vast majority of the timber is left on the ground as it grows with the heavily harvested mountain ash.

I’ve been stalking this shop for over a year, plagued by indecision as the boxes are all so stunning. I watched box after shortlisted box disappear from sale, and finally took the plunge. I picked it up from the post office today and I can’t stop admiring this box! It is even more beautiful than the photos show, with exquisite craftsmanship and beautiful timber. If you are looking for a special gift, you can’t go wrong with one of Anthony’s boxes. Don’t wait as long as I did!

I’d been eyeing these boxes for a long time and so glad that I finally made the purchase before I missed out. I have not come across anything else that matches this iridescent beauty. Absolutely gorgeous! The quality is impeccable. Bonus - the box it shipped in is useful, too.

There is a saying for us: all good things come in threes. That agrees here at Tony's fantastically beautiful and absolutely masterful jewelry box to 100%. If that's enough. Once again I am very excited and very happy. By the way, he built it at my request. His solution is brilliant. Because I wanted to have five rows for my many, bought last year, rings. Instead of the essentially superfluous rows, separated with a wooden strip, he created them across the whole interior. My jaw dropped. Really awesome. Tony is just a super great master of his trade. Now all my rings have found their place. Very nice, if order prevails. Thank you very much, continue to be very successful and kind regards, Friedrich
