*~+ As told by the Lakota people, the legend of the dreamcatcher begins with Iktomi, the wise yet tricky spider. Seeing an elder climbing a mountain, Iktomi grabs some horse hair, beads, feathers with other objects of beauty, and tells the elder his wisdom in a sacred language. “Life is a cycle with a beginning and end. We don’t move in a straight line, rather we move in cycles that complete themselves.” He proceeded to tell the man about the different ages and cycles. The man remembered that an end is also a beginning, which in part, is the meaning of the dreamcatcher.+~*
