Provenance:

This cabochon we cut from natural Smithsonite that came from Choix, Sinaloa, Mexico. Smithsonite is a Zinc Carbonate and is highly prized as a Collector Mineral Specimen and Cabochon. Smithsonite was named after the same man that the Smithsonian Institute was named after. The top of this cabochon is polished to a gemmy finish along with the sides and back for ease of setting. The pink color of this cabochon is very beautiful and Translucent. This is a soft stone like Turquoise. Cobalt is the chromophore in this beauty.
