Beautiful boxed set of CARNAVAL glasses, was designed in 1956 by MAX VERBOEKET for KRISTALUNIE MAASTRICHT. The design was a big hit at the Household Fair of 1957 - one of the first MODERN designs in Dutch glass. It’s bright CARNAVAL palette of colors was an instant hit, and proved quite popular, as housewives were encouraged to 'Decorate your table with a Carnaval of colours'. The colours in each boxed set of six were identical; 'smaragd' (emerald green), 'goudamber' (golden amber), 'amethist' (amethyst purple), 'koningsblauw' (royal blue/cobalt), 'olijf-groen' (a pale moss/olive green), and 'antraciet' (smoke-grey, usually a dull purple under bright lights).

The fantastic modern packaging for the line was designed by GER HUNTJENS, who won the GOLDEN NUT (Gouden Noot) prize for best packaging of the year, 1958.

Glasses are in excellent shape, box has some tape pulls on exterior and a tear or 2 on the insert. Includes top cardboard insert to hold glasses and original catalog pamphlet as pictured. A very rare set in incredible packaging - don’t let this pass you by!
