Dimensions

Height: 3 Inches; Width: 12 Inches

This is a beautiful Raku large plate. Mostly functions as a decorative piece which can be used as a centerpiece or hung on the wall, has a hanger on the back. Also can be used for fruit or add a clear plastic dish over it and use for antipasto/meat/cheese dish. You can't put wet/cooked food DIRECTLY on the plate itself as it is porus and will leak.

This plate was first wheel thrown then bisque fired in an electric kiln. I hand painted this shallow bowl with a flower then each segment was painted in a different color and different designs, reminiscent of a flowered quilt.

The plate was then put into a gas kiln until temp reached approximately 1700 degrees, the pot was taken out of the kiln while it was still molten and quickly put into a container with sawdust and crumbled newspaper and a lid was put over the container. The black on the plate is the unglazed area and those sections absorbed the carbon from the smoke. It has a light protective coating over it to protect the black from fingerprints.

Raku is a low fired ware and will not hold water nor is it meant for food. It is for decorative use only. Only dust as needed and keep out of the sun.

Size:3" H x 12" W
Colors: metallic turquoise, green, copper and green
