A museum quality mola folk art snake! 3+ layers of traditional reverse applique mola, beautifully hand stitched by a very gifted Kuna Indian artist in Kuna Yala, The San Blas Islands, Panama!

Highly original.. a collaborative snake design, celebrating the colorful, slithery creatures found in the rain forests of Central America. This one however.. is soft, tactile and very lovable!

Now.. ON SALE !!

The applique stitching is fabulous.. colors are bold and vibrant on dramatic black. A rich red bottom fabric layer, with pumpkin and 7 others including just the right amount of purple.

Traditional mola elements include 'puntitas'.. those pumpkin colored spots you see from head to end of tail. These are all reverse applique and so hard to sew. Few artists can pull them off this well! All the stitching is excellent. Layer by layer, stitch by tiny stitch.. hand sewn using time honored techniques handed down from Kuna mothers to daughter for generations!

Snake = symbol of rebirth, represents creative power, wisdom,
alchemy and healing. A guardian spirit.
