This listing is for one (1) black sheep eggshell ornament. This ornament was done in the Ukrainian wax & dye or 'batik' method known as Pysanka on a white chicken eggshell. The size is 1-1/2" wide by 2-1/2" long.

Creating pysanky is a centuries old Ukrainian tradition in which hot wax flows through a tool known as a 'kistka', to write lines on an egg. Successive layers of wax and dye develop the pattern. Once the wax is removed the final design is revealed. I work on empty, cleaned eggshells which are finished with 4 coats of varnish which strengthen & protect the design.

While I'm not of Ukrainian heritage, I learned the craft as a teenager and found the symbolism of plants & animals and the messages of love, healing, spirit and hope fascinating.

Please email/contact me if you prefer to pay by check or money order.

thank you!
