This is a very dramatic, very Goth, very noir gown for the girl who doesn't want a typical prom dress. This dress perhaps goes back to the fifties as there is a Union label inside (ILGWU) and it was made in the USA. With the exception of the wrinkling in the satiny fabric, which is easily steamed out, the dress is in perfect condition. It is for a small lady, so please pay attention to the measurements below.

The dark teal satiny look fabric is a beautiful blend of emerald green and bluish turquoise, and there is an iridescent sheen which changes intensity as the light hits it and as you move. It has a corset look midriff with a drop waist and structured pleated short sleeves to wear off the shoulders or on the shoulders just a bit. There are stretchy fabric covered straps, like bra straps, to help the top stay up so it is more comfortable on the body. Below the V shaped dropped waist is a billow of satin gathered into billows and tied with bows in black ribbon. There are 6 of these ties all around the bottom of the greenish fabric. Below the billows are 2 tiers of black lace, one which reaches to the floor and the shorter one which falls about 6" below the greenish billows. There is black lace around the bottoms of the short sleeves, and there is a little bit of soutache trim with black sequins and beads across the bust. Deep back zipper.

Dress is simply gorgeous and reminds me of the looks I see on actress Helena Bonham-Carter and love, love, love. Beautifully finished in every respect, and of course it will be even better after you unpack it and steam it into shape. I would wear it with just a thin ribbon of lace at the neckline, tied in front. Either high black sheer gloves, very simple, or short black lace gloves which can be frilly if you like. If you have black lacy tie ankle booties that would be perfect, but of course a pretty pair of pumps, maybe with a curved heel, would be great as well.

Total length is 54"
Bust is 34"
Waist is 25"
Around the hips where the waistline dips into the V shape hips measure 36"

If I were a designer I would make this dress in so many colors, including whites and champagnes for brides. I would love it in black, and I would love it in parchment tones with drippy old looking lace at the bottom and sleeves. I would also love to see the satiny part in a watery flowery design with ecru lace. Hmmm...I feel inspired.
