Musical Abstraction... painting the way it feels to 'play' the instruments. As an artist and musician, I attempt to capture the essence and energy of the instrument I'm trying to depict, and transfer that feeling of musicality to the canvas. I have been creating musical abstraction since 2003.

"Blue Collar Blues" is a nicely rendered saxophone piece of original acrylic abstract expressionist art. This sax is sized for an almost baritone feeling of musicality although you could abstractly envision this instrument to be either an Alto or a Tenor. Waves of musical energy emminate from the horn. The original measures 20x24 on canvas panel and is framed in a beautiful #117 Nielsen anodized aluminum frame. Finished size is approx. 21x25.

Painted during the height of the 2008 recession, when the banks and trusted financial institutions of our country utterly screwed millions of people and then conveniently pretended to forget their nefarious crimes, I did a series of musical blues paintings, which this was one of that group.

A bluesy, jazzy baritone/tenor or alto sax pushing out noteful and soulful influences. The colors are mainly blues and darker earth tones with hints of red and black, with a touch of an orange hint, some brassy highlights and a few chrome and silver accents. This is a highly energetic piece of original acrylic art.

The perfect sized piece for that space you have in your studio... where you know this would generate inspiration for continual practice and play.

This "fine art" original artwork represents a mix of classical musicality into a contemporary acrylic painting with overtones of abstract expressionism. For added protection, the artwork has several coats of varnish to seal the surface but this original acrylic painting should NOT be hung in direct sunlight as fading will occur over time. Minimal sunlight exposure is totally acceptable.

All materials used in the framing process are archival products commonly used in conservation framing. All hanging materials necessary to mount on most wall surfaces are included.
