What is homespun fabric?

Homespun is a lightweight cotton fabric known for its soft texture and timeless rustic charm. Traditionally, homespun was made from yarn spun and woven by hand at home, giving the fabric its name. Today's homespun fabric preserves that traditional, handcrafted appearance, with subtle color variations, slight irregularities, and a naturally textured finish. Unlike printed fabrics, homespun patterns are created by weaving colored cotton yarns together, making the design visible on both sides of the fabric. These subtle variations aren't flaws; they're part of what makes homespun unique. They give each piece its distinctive character, natural beauty, and authentic farmhouse appeal.

Gently hand wash or machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. Tumble dry on low heat until slightly damp, or line dry. Use a medium steam iron as needed to remove wrinkles. Tree skirts and lined curtains: Spot clean only. For best results: Steam iron before first use and after washing to restore a smooth, freshly pressed appearance.

Fabric Swatches - Free!

Not sure which fabric or color fits your home? I'm happy to send free fabric swatches! Simply provide your name, mailing address, and the fabric names or numbers you'd like to see. I highly recommend requesting swatches when coordinating with existing décor. Colors can vary between screens, and seeing the fabric in person allows you to evaluate its true color, texture, thickness, and pattern scale. Each swatch is generously sized so you can choose with confidence. **Shipping:** Swatches are mailed via USPS First-Class Mail in a letter-sized envelope without tracking. I'll let you know when they ship.

**Available Sizes:** 20", 25", 30", 35", and 40" diameter. Tree skirt sizes refer to the overall diameter, measured from edge to edge, including the center opening. **How to Measure:** 1. Place a measuring tape at the center of your tree trunk. 2. Extend the tape diagonally downward to the tip of the widest bottom branch. 3. Multiply this measurement by 2 to estimate the tree skirt diameter. 4. Choose the closest available size, rounding up or down based on your preferred coverage. **Example:** If your measurement is 15 inches, a 30-inch tree skirt is a good starting point. Consider your tree stand's height and the angle of the lower branches. Choose a larger size for additional coverage.

**Length (Top to Bottom)** Measure from the top of the curtain rod to where you'd like your curtains to fall. Curtain length is measured flat, from the top of the rod pocket to the bottom hem. The 1" header is not included. **Width (Left to Right)** For a full, gathered look, choose curtains totaling 1.5–2 times your rod width. Less fullness creates a more tailored appearance. **Tier widths are listed per panel and sold in pairs:** - 30" panels = 60" total width - 40" panels = 80" total width **For a coordinated look,** choose a valance with the same total width as your tiers. Example: A 60" wide valance pairs with two 30" wide tier panels.

Table Runner Measuring

For a balanced, traditional look, choose a table runner approximately one-third the width of your table, with a 6"–10" overhang at each end. How to Measure: Measure your table width and divide by 3 to find the ideal runner width. Measure the length of your table. Add 12"–20" to the table length to allow for a 6"–10" overhang on each end. Example: For a table measuring 42" wide × 60" long, a runner approximately 14" wide × 72"–80" long is ideal. Prefer a modern look? Choose a shorter runner that sits centered on your table without hanging over the ends.

Pillow Cover Measuring

For the best fit, choose a pillow cover that matches your pillow insert size. How to Measure: Lay your pillow insert on a flat surface without compressing it. Using a flexible measuring tape, measure from seam to seam across the center of the pillow, first the width, then the length. If you don't have a flexible measuring tape, use a piece of string and measure it against a yardstick or metal tape measure. Helpful Tip: Always measure your insert rather than relying on the size shown on its label, as actual dimensions may vary. Choosing the correct size helps ensure a neat, tailored appearance.
