This very feminine Scarflette is reminescent of the Victorian Scarflettes worn by woman during the 18th Century for modesty when wearing low-cut dresses. A Scarflette is a small covering which modestly lays across the shoulders.

The Scarflette was hand crocheted using a hand spun art yarn of black and maroon Merino wool; grey Alpaca wool; and Tussah silk blend. The yarn is intersperced with gemstones of Grey Freshwater Pearls, Garnet discs, and faceted Crystal beads. The Scarflette can be worn with the closure in the front or on the side of the shoulder. The closure is a Swarovski Crystal bead.

My muse for this Victorian Scarflette and pattern is the painting "La Tricoteuse" (The Knitter); painted in 1882 by one of my favorite artists William Bouguereau.
