Having to clear some space in my workshop I finally decided to do something with the old barnwood that I had been keeping for so long. Made from reclaimed wood and metal, this birdhouse is intended to be used indoors or out. A great decorative piece, this house will attract birds and people alike and could just as easily sit on a shelf in the home as on a stand in the yard. The rough textures, worn colors and basic materials evoke a feeling of a rustic and simpler life. The naturally time-worn surfaces and colors are exactly what make this piece so interesting. Exterior wood glue and nail gun help the final assembly. Copper coated nails are used on the exterior and will oxidize over time to a beautiful green patina. The tree branch adds a bit of whimsy to the front, along with a twig post acting as the welcome mat. The roof is made with aged and rusted metal roofing used in may old barns. The opening is a natural knot hole and is perfectly off center! The size is 13" high x 7" deep x 9" wide at the base.
