Written and illustrated in 1941 by A.J. MacGregor, Smoke and Fluff is a book about two mischievious kittens who drive their mommy cats crazy with their antics. This is a little book that is big giant cute -- it's unpaginated, but around 48 pages long, with half of the pages being full-page color illustrations of the crazed Smoke and Fluff and their slipper-wearing mother cats. (The sensible shoes worn by the Ma cats is hilarious.)

A part of the Ladybird series of children's books published Wills and Hepworth in London, this book is the classic Ladybird size of 7 x 4.5. This is the fourth edtion from 1946 of the original 1941 printing.

Tough to find here in the U.S., if you're looking for the classic version of this great little book, this is your chance to pick up a copy!

The hardboard cover shows cracking at chipping along the spine. There is wear to the edges and the tips are rubbed and worn down. The paste-down illustration is secure, but is no longer totally glued down flat. The cover also shows some soiling.

The interior pages are all intact, although there are 5 places where tape was placed along the gutter of two facing pages to reinforce them. The tape has since yellowed. The back cover has a lot of give from the text block, and is cracked along the last two pages of the book that advertise other books in the series. There is a bit of foxing on a few pages, but the book is largely clean. There is a gift inscription on one of the early pages.

This book should not be handled roughly by its new ower, but the illustrations are vivid and bright and have many years of enjoyment left in them.
