Simple hand painted design in cobalt blue, bright orange, green and a touch of yellow.
The scene is two pagodas on a lake with trees and birds.

There's a small handle recessed into the cover and carry handles recessed into two sides of the box.
Crazing throughout the glaze as is appropriate for its age.
No chips or cracks but there is some discoloration inside but it appears to be under the glaze.
The box is stamped Moriyama over a bouquet of flowers with Made in Japan underneath and this mark dates to early to mid 20th century.
Moriyama Mori-Machi pottery was established in 1911.

These boxes were used as food separators in the icebox.
6" inches wide at the handles X 4 3/4" X 2 1/2" high.
