Original, beautifully detailed and coloured antique chromolithograph of pears.

The pear is a fruit tree of genus Pyrus and also the name of the tree's edible pomaceous fruit. The English word “pear” is probably from Common West Germanic *pera, probably a loanword of Vulgar Latin pira, the plural of pirum, akin to Greek apios, which is likely of Semitic origin. The term "pyriform" is sometimes used to describe something which is "pear-shaped".

This charming lithograph shows: 1. Graue Dechantsbirne, 2. Rote Bergamotte, 3. Der Kuhfuss - Kuhfuss Pear, 4. Winter-Nelis - Winter Nelis Pear, 5. Sterkmann's Butterbirne, 6. Liegel's Winterbutterbirne, 7. Esperen's Herrenbirne - Seigneur Esperen, 8. Seckel's Birne, 9. Vereins Dechantsbirne.

The size of the print (in inches): 9,8" x 7" (25 x 17,5 cm)
Printed in Stuttgart, 1889 for the 7th edition of Pierers Konversations-Lexikon.

The print is in good condition, the paper shows its age with creamy patina, perfect for framing.

Concerning the age of the paper - cca. 120 years - some spots can be occured on the margin and the reverse side, but these do not effect the quality of the lithograph itself as it can be seen on the scan.

Please note, that by antique prints due to their age some imperfections are to be expected.
