What you see here is a joyfully-gathered shell fragment.

We took my mom to North Carolina to celebrate her 60th birthday, and being Kansas folk, we expect nothing but magic from the ocean. Approaching the waves with a bucket, I was disappointed to see that the shells I hoped to gather were smashed to bits by the rowdy Atlantic.

"Boo," I said. "They're all broken."
Clarity dawned.
"Yay!" I said. "They're all necklaces!"

You're finding this shell just as I did, shaped and smoothed by the sand and waves. I've simply added a silver edge and a ring to hang it from. Oh, and an embedded rhinestone just for fun.

Now you can always have a piece of the ocean's magic near you—even if you're in Kansas.

Pendant is about 1 3/4" x 1" on a 17" chunky nickel-plated brass ball chain.*

*Ball chain is available in thin, medium and chunky weights. My standard is 17", but I'm happy to put this necklace on any weight or length ball chain you like. Just include a note in your order.
