This is a print of the original oil painting "Sacred Visitors" that I painting in 1998. This was the painting that ended my "Honoring Mother" series. This series came about during my dream-time healing, shortly after my Mother's way to early passing in 1991.

I hadn't know for fact much of my past and herstory on my mothers side of the family. More was unspoken rather than spoken. There also seemed to be more of the unknown rather than the known of family members and where they lived. I grew up among a great mystery!

While painting this painting, during my application with a pallet knife of the fringe, something very magical and kind of sad happened. There were many nest of spiders up in the rafters and it was a warm day in Spring. Suddenly there were these tinny baby spiders, hundreds of them falling, being birthed into this world. IT was snowing spiders. The fresh oil paint drew many of them into instant death, attaching them into this painting forever.

At first I tried to save them..silly to think I could. And then I realized this was a great gift from my Creator. To have the spider spirit literally in this painting was a grand message for me.

Spider medicine reminds us all of the reward of diligent work and commitment to focus. She also reminds us of the power of patience in attaining after the wait.

This series began in 1991 and came to a close with this painting in 1998. I painted over 60 paintings for this series and had a one woman show in 1999 that featured 44 pieces.

when I look to this painting I am always reminded of the medicine of a sunrise and the workings of Spider medicine.
