This is a vintage Hermes Rocket portable manual typewriter in excellent condition. It's been restored and returned to working condition.

Hermes typewriters (not to be confused with the French fashion house of similar name) were made by Paillard-Bolex, a Swiss music box and watch manufacturer that entered into the typewriter business in the 1930s. Hermes machines were made with superior craftsmanship and build quality, and are some of the finest manual typewriters ever made. This Rocket is in excellent shape and is a prime example of what a top-of-the-line typewriter company could do in its prime.

As with all my typewriters, I have cleaned, lubricated and polished this vintage Hemes Rocket typewriter, and it is ready to use.

**COSMETIC CONDITION**
This Hermes vintage typewriter is in excellent (9/10) cosmetic condition shape. It's small, almost tiny, for a typewriter, and is eminently portable. There are a few wear marks on the typewriter, such as paint scrapes and blemishes, as well as some de-coloration from sun and time, but these are to be expected with a machine of this age.

The color of this mid-century typewriter is the well-known, and desirable, sea-foam green. This color was unique to mid-century Hermes and is one of the company's hallmarks at the time. It's a beautiful, yet subtle, statement of both style and quality.

This Hermes Rocket also comes with the original carrying case that snaps onto the typewriter body, and which features a retractable handle. It is in good working and cosmetic condition, though it too has some wear or use marks.

**MECHANICAL CONDITION**
This Hermes Rocket manual typewriter is in very good shape. All the control features function as they should, and the machine types very well.

The only problem with this typwriter is that the return lever has been a stubborn nut to crack, and is only useable in the double-space configuration. If I'm able to repair the mechanism and allow it to single-space again, I'll update this listing.

Otherwise, this Hermes Rocket types with a clean, tight script, and is easy on the fingers. As an ultra-portable, this machine is a bit easier on the fingers than heavier machines, though that same lightness also tends to allow the machine to move or 'walk' on a surface as you type unless you use a typewriter pad.

**RECOMMENDED BUYER**
I'd recommend this vintage Hermes Rocket typewriter to a collector, designer, or a writer who wants a high quality, beautiful mid-century machine. Though I would not recommend this Rocket for someone who wants a machine for heavy writing, as there are machines better suited to that purpose, it is up to the task if called upon.

Hermes typewriters are well known for their quality and beauty, and this Rocket is a prime example of the line. This machine will be a pleasure to whoever takes it home.

**INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING**
I do ship internationally, so please contact me if you live outside the United States and would like a shipping estimate.

**MORE TYPEWRITERS / CUSTOM ORDERS**
I have a lot of typewriters, most of which I'm still in the process of refurbishing. If you want a specific machine, or don't see what you like here or in my shop, just let me know.

Thank you, and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
