Functional and nostalgic, this 1930's Craftsman Hand Printer is such an interesting find! We've enjoyed imagining the history that accompanies the piece, a small bit of which is found on the inside cover of the lid. The previous owners used the box top for stamping practice - we saw stamps for the Ladies Auxiliary General Fund to the VFW and for admission tickets ($1) to the July 4, 1958 event at Hooper Auditorium.

This Hand Printer was manufactured by Stamper Kraft and is set no. 4720. It was made in the US and is copyrighted by the T.S.T. Co. Items in this set include:

*Complete Set of Alphabet Stamps (approx. 1/2")
*0-9 Number Stamps and 7 Basic Punctuation Stamps
*6'' Typesetting Ruler
*One 6'' Typesetting Bar and one 3'' Typesetting Bar
*Carter's Silent Stamp Pad (no longer functional, but in the original vintage tin)
*Tin of Typesetting Alphabets Stamps (tiny) **Typically, these sets did not include the tin for the typesetting letters (they would just be in a baggie). However, the letters in this set were put in a "L. C. Smith Ivory Brand Non-Grease Typewriter Ribbons" tin. The tin is in excellent condition, with no fading or rust.

As usual, we bought a box of vintage items sight unseen. This particular box came out of the estate of a 95 year old Omaha woman. Her daughter bundled together a bunch of her old treasures and sold them as a unit in one big box. We bought the box because we caught a glimpse of vintage weight loss tools (post to come later!) but ended up being just as pleased about this Hand Printer.
