Vintage Carnival Glass Dish,Imperial Glass,Marigold Carnival Glass,Golden Iridescent,Sawtooth Rim,Imperial Grape,858 6" Handled Pickle Dish

This listing is for a beautiful vintage carnival glass 6 inch handled relish or pickle dish or tray, manufacturer's #858. The pattern is called Imperial Grape and the color and finish is called Marigold which is an iridescent orange gold color. The dish dates back to the 1960's and was made by Imperial Glass Corporation in Bellaire, Ohio. For over eighty years, the artists at Imperial Glass produced some of the most elegant hand-crafted glassware in the US. Vintage pieces like this dish are highly prized and collected. This dish is marked on the bottom with the "IG" symbol which is a capital G laid over a stylized capital I. Imperial started using this mark in 1951 and until the early 1970's. The dish is in excellent used vintage condition and there are no cracks or chips.

The color of this dish is called Marigold. It is the most popular color of Carnival Glass. The golden orange coloring comes from the iron chloride found in the spray that was applied to the clear glass while it was still very hot, creating a shimmering iridescence. Marigold was the first color to be used by the classic Carnival Glass makers.

All Carnival Glass is made using moulds which in most cases were made from metal. But some makers also used wooden moulds. The moulds are used to create the basic shape of the item being pressed and they also create the designs on the surface of the glass itself. If you see a line in the surface of the piece, it is not a fault but just where the mould pieces meet.

Shipping and handling price is for USPS First Class Mail which includes Tracking and Endicia Insurance. Priority Mail is available as an upgrade. If you would like to have this item shipped to Canada or Europe, please convo me for pricing.

***Please note that since this is a used vintage item, it is being sold as is and is therefore not returnable.
