Unusual Irish Brooch hand enameled over copper. Can be used as a stylish eyeglass holder brooch. Historic Irish treasure comes boxed with a history.
Modern looking it may be but this detail is from an eighth century AD Irish cloak fastener. It's an example of Celtic work created for the Roman army as souvenirs to take home when a tour of duty ended.
Celtic Dragons were worn in ancient times as talismans believed to harness the positive forces of the four elements. A good choice for any Celt who believes in tradition but has a more contemporary sensibility. It holds reading glasses too, but looks great all on it's own
Each brooch shipped in my own specially designed gift box which includes a brief Celtic history and pictionary of Celtic symbols.
