Dainty little handkerchief with "Mother" embroidered in pale aqua blue in one corner with flower and sprays surrounding it.

Made of a very soft white cotton, with a fine linen weave look to it.

Somewhat square at 9 1/2" x 9 1/4" with extended corner piece. This actually can be folded so it can hang down over a bodice pocket, with the embroidered "Mother" being able to be read as worn.

Handkerchiefs are difficult to date ~ this one is machine-stitched, but very finely so, as, for example the hem is set so it actually looks like a row of tiny faggoting around it, making it all that more precious. We estimate this to be from at least the 1950s, and is very possible many years older.

This is freshly laundered and pressed, and in fine condition: there are a few dropped stitches of blue along the scalloped hem in the corner, please see the close up photograph.

Mother's Day is May 8th this year in the US (it was April 3rd in the UK).
