Those of us that played with push puppets as a child remember seeing the Kohner brothers' name on many of those toys. While they made their fortune on push puppets oddly enough they started their business in 1870 with a factory that made wood-turned bases for curtain handles and sword decorations. In 1874, due to the purchase of a specialty machine, the company changed into a bead making company. Supplying most of the world with wood beads for many years. Their children went on to take over the company and in 1947 fortune smiled on the small company when they purchased the rights to a line of toys to be called Push Button Puppets. First made of wood, of course, these toys took the world by storm, so much so that Fisher Price and other toymakers tried to duplicate their design.

After World War II more products were being made with plastic and the Kohner Brothers saw an opportunity. To raise the money for the expensive mold injection machines, the family hired a salesman to sell off the huge inventory of beads collected over the years.

We're unsure as to when exactly the relationship was created with Disney and Hanna-Barbera however, we do know that their greatest success was the “Busy Box” (10 activities for infants) and the still popular game of “Trouble”.

Yogi Bear is an iconic "state parks" character. Many of us remember touring the state parks with our families in hopes to see Yogi and Boo-Boo. Most of us settled on push puppets or any of the other Yogi branded toys. This guy is 4" tall and really great condition.
