This is an extremely rare and highly collectible gold plated mechanical necklace from Hattie Carnegie. This is the genuine large goose, not the smaller version with the exposed wing hardware that was produced in larger quantities.

This necklace was inspired by the fable "The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg". The design is brilliant. When one pulls the golden egg attached to a chain hanging from the body of the goose, the wings flap up.

The construction of this necklace is complex and the piece is quite substantial. The goose features a gold ring bale that is hung on a long chain. The piece is signed on the underside "Hattie Carnegie" in an oval cartouche.

The artistry and craftsmanship that went into creating this amazing piece is incredible. The features of the goose are realized in tremendous detail with the wings being so beautifully sculpted that they appear animated, ready to fly.
