Item details

Vintage from the 1970s

Incredible piece by British Boutique designer Georgina Linhart, this dress dates from 1972 and was photographed for the first cover of the Daily Mirror's colour supplement that year. A brown version is held by the V&A and the photo was featured in Marnie Fogg's Boutique book. This is British Boutique, distilled down to its purest form. Ethereal, daring to go as far as possible and with an abundance of sparkle, I love this blue version which gives it a mermaid feel. Pieces like this don't turn up every day, and this is museum quality stuff.

Please note, as you can see from the contemporary picture, it is transparent from the underbust down!

Measurements:

Bust 34" - Underbust 31" - Hips 36" - Length 37" (from back of neck to front hem)

Fabric

Machine-embroidered chiffon with sequins, partly lined with synthetic fabric

Condition:

Excellent condition. I can see no holes or stains. The body of the dress shows no sequin loss, there may be some around the neckline (you can see a few loose threads) but they would only be from the very edge and there isn't anything you can be sure of. Sold as vintage.
