Well, you might remember that we took down two Persimmons trees for our neighbor this summer. We cut the trunk of the tree into chunks with the hope that we can make some cool trivets. The chunks are drying...chemical free, but any time you dry wood some will crack!!!! What to do...what to do! Not ones to add to the burn pile, we are trying to keep things out of the burn pile so we came up with a really unique way to bring nature indoors.

These are a pair of bookends from the same chunk of Persimmons wood. The gorgeous chocolate bark has been left on and it still even has tiny vine branches attached. All sides have been sanded smooth and lightly coated with tung oil and organic beeswax.

If you look real close you will see the hidden message stamped on one bookend - "read me". (***** If you prefer your without the words let me know...we finish each piece when ordered.*****)

The bookends are different in shape and size because trees never grow perfectly, but we like that!! We will be making more of these so if you have any special requests, send us a convo.

***You will not be getting the exact pieces in photos but some that are very similar***

A little about Persimmons wood:
Persimmon grows in the southern United States where it has earned the nicknames "the ebony of America" and "white ebony". The commercially valuable timber, however, is much lighter than the typical ebony. Persimmon has the right mix of properties that make it ideal for two very specific uses: textile shuttles and golf club heads.

The funny thing about the Persimmons wood is that the sides of these pieces show the natural ebony wood grain but the ends are natural color...don't ask me why?

All of our products came from nature so things will change over time. Sometimes small cracks or checks will appear, this is normal and to be expected.
