Dimensions

Height: 4.5 Inches; Width: 6 Inches

A pair of bookends made from the stump of a tree that was felled by beavers. For a charmingly natural and rustic look in bookends, I don't think you can do better than these. These two halves of a beaver-chewed tree stump show the intricate grooved and facetted tooth-marks left by the beaver to cut down the tree, and below that the shallower tooth marks where they stripped off the bark. (The bark is the part of trees that beavers eat.) One of the two pieces has a gnarly shape thanks to an old scar on the tree left by an earlier beaver "attack." Beavers will often start to gnaw down a tree and then apparently forget about it, sometimes coming back years later to finally fell the tree.

Stainless steel plates are attached to the bottoms of these bookends to make them more stable -- the weight of the books helps hold the bookends in place. They are finished with three coats of polyurethane.

These bookends are about 4-1/2 inches (11.5 cm) high, and about 6 inches (15 cm) across the flat face.

What better way to grace some favorite books than with a pair of bookends that bring a truly delightful piece of the natural world into your home or office?
