Dimensions

Length: 6.25 Inches; Width: 2.75 Inches

It's a whimsical, woodland trinket dish in two lovely shades of blue! This shallow dish was created by draping a slab of hand rolled, white stoneware clay over a wooden mold. A thin strand of delicate, tatted lace was impressed into the clay multiple times parallel to one another while on the mold. Once the clay reached a level of dryness that allowed it to keep its shape, the bowl was removed from the mold.

Three little mushrooms were pinched and sculpted into existence, and then attached to one end of the bowl using the slip and score method. A fettling knife was used to make the mushroom gills. The tallest of the spotted mushroom caps grew to a height of 1.75 inches.

The bowl area of this shallow catchall was glazed in an opalescent turquoise that pooled to a matte finish with royal blue and tones of yellow gold. The outside of the ring dish was left unglazed and stained black within the recesses of the texture.

The overall measurements of this piece are 6.25 inches long and 2.75 inches at the widest point. This sweet little ceramic dish would make a thoughtful gift for an avid gardener, hostess or teacher. It is a colorful celebration of our natural world with a touch of the fantastic through its vibrant hues.
