A rectangular scarf made of silk. The red orange background is printed with a stylized image with a clear Op Art influence, featuring two opposite trees or branches overflowing each other in the rhombus shaped red orange centre. One tree is orange colored with white outlines; the other tree is black colored with white outlines. Both trees have seven branches or stems and big leaves. Hand rolled and stitched hems, printed in the right lower corner “Pierre Cardin Paris” in black italic script. Two tags stitched in the hem, one is printed “soie naturelle 100% silk - Made in France” and on the second one “A nettoyer à sec – dry cleaning”. This scarf dates to the 1960s - beginning 1970s, the era in which geometric, minimalist and graphic patterns were the trend. Also vibrant, bright colors like orange, purple, yellow and apple green were fashionable then. Pierre Cardin was one of the Parisian couturiers who were influenced by the Op Art and Abstract Art movements of the Fifties/Sixties. Very good vintage condition, a few slight traces of wear and one pinhole in the center, all only visible with back lighting. Mannequin on photo is small sized, please check measurements. A well preserved example of a "Swinging Sixties" fashion accessory. Opportunity for collectors!
