Vintage era: 1930s
Materials: base metal; glass
Measurements: 4.5 x 2.1 cms / 1¾” x 4/5”, height 1.2 cms/ ½" approx.
Vintage condition: mediocre vintage condition; some stones have yellowed, some are replaced; under magnifier tiny scratches and glue residue visible on the stones; discoloration on the clasp, may be some slight corrosion

This curved brooch, made of silver tone pot metal, has a somewhat oval shape and is open worked. The front side is embellished with clear brilliant cut rhinestones: 2 stones of 7 mms diameter, 8 stones of 6 mms, 6 stones of 4 mms and 20 tiny ones. All stones are glued to the frame, some of them oblique, on some spots traces of yellowed glue visible. Some stones look newer than others, they may not be original and replaced in time. The two biggest stones are very sparkling. On several places the brooch has open back sides where the foiled back sides of the stones are visible. A C-secured clasp is soldered to a small stick, next to a hole meant for a rivet. The clasp has some discoloration or slight corrosion next to the hinge, it works fine. Under magnifier the pin shows remnants of gold tone finish and on one back side of the brooch two raised prominences appear. All this does suggest that the brooch has been transformed (former shoe clip?) and/or that the clasp has been replaced. The back side shows the silver tone pot metal and has no finish. The brooch is not marked, it dates probably to the 1930s, may have been transformed later on. Acquired in the U.S.
