handmade pure silver ring, 2mm thick (999)

crushed red corundum (ruby) rough

The ring has a rustic look and feel. It is very thick and a good solid weight on your finger. I crushed red corundum rough with a hammer and my steel bench block. Ruby being a 9 on Mohs hardness scale actually put nicks and dings in my hardened steel bench block, so in effect, I can't use that side anymore for anything but crushing rubies, sapphires or diamonds! Anyway, I soldered and fired the crushed ruby along the entire surface of the ring. I used ruby because it is one of the only natural gemstone minerals that can withstand the high heat involved in firing and soldering onto the silver and mantain its natural red color without cracking and breaking. I tumbled the ring to strengthen the silver and bring out its shine.

The buyer will receive the ring pictured. It is a size 9.25. It will not be made to order, but shipped directly as is. Please note - ruby is 2nd in hardness only to diamonds. I coated the ring with a thin coat of diamond glaze to protect and cushion the rubies. Have fun wearing it!
