This bowl is 3 1/2 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches wide. It holds about 16 ounces.

This is a wheel thrown rice bowl. The notch in the rim of the bowl keeps your chopsticks from sliding off the bowl when you set them down. The inside is an ocean blue green celadon made from a simple celadon recipe mixed in studio by me.

The outside of the bowl is a drawing of sakura cherry blossoms floating on the wind that have been carved right into the clay using a wax resist sgraffito method. The drawing is colored with a cobalt dark blue slip and sealed in with a clear glaze. Because the drawing is under the glaze it is dishwasher safe and will never rub off or fade.

This bowl is high fire white stoneware and is dishwasher, microwave, and food safe. The style of the rice bowl is a little heavy to keep noodles warm and so that it’s more durable for everyday use. The foot ring is nice and wide so it sits firmly on a table. A good rice bowl is a joy to use.
