I refashioned these classy dangle earrings from a beautiful but horribly uncomfortable pair of vintage clip-ons.

The pearlescent 7/8 inch ivory-colored disks remain intact. The metal clips have aged beautifully, and show a natural verdigris finish. I removed part of the clip-on piece and reshaped the backing to become part of the dangley new look. Then I wrapped it with wire, added a matching ivory-colored bead, and made a twisted-wire loop to connect everything to the earwire.

The earring hangs 1.75 inches below the earwire.

A new twist on an old classic!

When I was little I used to try on my grandma's earrings. Wow were those clip-ons painful! Gives me a headache just thinking about it. But still I couldn't toss them—too much nostalgia, and lots of vintage elegance. Instead I reworked them into comfortable classics with a modern appeal.

These beauties go as well with ball gowns as they do with jeans. They're also good conversation-starters. :)
