Aleuts from the Aleutian Islands hunted in their Baidarkas or Umiaks for seal, otter, and whales. They faced the open sea in those skin covered kayaks. This depicts a hunters heading home after being at sea for a time. This painting includes Horned Puffins and a Seagull, both common in Alaska.
