I have honestly never seen another Varon like this, which makes me wonder if it is completely unique? I'm not sure if John Bates did many custom pieces, but I can't imagine this was a hugely commercial style - although it is SPECTACULAR and reminds me of the Bates outfit that Diana Rigg wore in The Avengers episode 'The Girl from Auntie'! It's very Varon in style, with the sheer bodice and high waist finished with a satin ribbon, but your modesty is only saved by two panels of applied feathers (applied with a bit of reinforced mesh). Dare you wear? Certainly a must have for a quirky vintage collection.

Measurements:

Bust 34" max - Waist is just a shade over 24" - Hips are free - Length 56"

Fabric

Synthetic jersey, chiffon and applied feathers

Condition:

Hard to know if all the feathers are in tact but there's decent coverage on both sides. Please note that these are very delicate and should be treated very carefully when worn. The hem is not overlocked but it is turned up and stitched in place so this isn't visible when worn (and might be evidence that this is a one off piece because it's pretty long and I don't think has been shortened). Some scuffs to the satin waistband, and more noticeable damage to the rear. There are a few scattered holes in the skirt which I have tried to photograph. There are also some faint dusty marks to the skirt which don't seem to show up in photos - this kind of jersey is very prone to showing up marks if you look in bright light but being black it isn't very noticeable. These flaws have been taken into account with the price, but it is a VERY rare piece. Due to limitations of Etsy format I haven't uploaded all photos of flaws but can send photos of anything specific upon request. Sold as vintage
