Every garden needs a housing opportunity, don't you think? This one is disguised with two other mushroom caps to protect the front door from being too easily recognized!

This large garden sculpture was completely hand built from both ceramic slabs and pinch pot forms. A delicate strand of tatted lace was pressed into the mushroom caps, one line at a time. Because of the high grog content, each mushroom stem was carefully smoothed with a firm silicone rib. A flat underglaze wash of white and grey was applied by brush in vertical strokes up and down each stem and on all the gills. Multiple coats of two high gloss glazes were applied to the caps, creating lovely pools of swirling blues and purples at the edges of each topper and throughout the texture itself.

This fairy house (or gnome home) was fired to a temperature of over 2000º in an electric kiln. It will do well as an outdoor garden sculpture, but it is recommended that you bring this beauty inside when outdoor temps start to plummet. The faeries and gnomes are sure to appreciate it.

The sculpture measures 7.5 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep. This fungi statue would make a fabulous colorful addition to any in-ground or container garden, nestled among some colorful marigolds or habanero peppers.
