Four interlaced snakes inspired by designs from the Book of Kells decorate this journal cover. The snakes have been hand tooled, painted with acrylic paint, then the piece was stained with saddle tan antique and covered with a matte acrylic finish. It is made from a 4 to 5 ounce tooling leather lined with rust pigskin suede split and has tooling leather flaps that hold the journal securely in the cover. The cover has been hand sewn together using black artificial sinew. The is journal cover closes with a strap that runs under a second strap on the front of the cover. Both straps have been securely attached with brass rivets.

This journal cover made to fit a 4.5 x 6 inch (approximately 10.6 cm by 15 cm) refill journal. The cover itself is 5 inches wide, 6.75 inches long and 1 inch wide (approximately 13 cm wide, 17 cm long and 2 cm thick). It comes filled with a 4.5" x 6" blank journal so you can start using it immediately.
