Maxim Gorky, one of Russia's greatest writers, wrote mainly in an autobiographical framework. His three works, "My Childhood", "In the World", and "My Universities", are considered among the best of his writings. Not only do they present the extremely varied and active life of Gorky from childhood through youth, but they also provide us with an indelible portrait of the era during which the Russian Revolution took place.
