oak root wood

Height: 2 Inches; Width: 6 Inches

A beautiful bowl with lots of character made from a section of root from an oak tree. One of the wonderful things about root wood is the way the heavier branches of root (technically called the coarse roots) often merge with each other. This gives the resulting wood grain some wild and delightful patterns never found in the "regular" wood of the tree. This wood bowl has particularly bright and bold colors in its grain that range from pale yellow to dark brown. Even better, the bowl exhibits a uniquely root-wood shape: An "X" formed where two coarse roots crossed, became one, and then continued on their separate ways. Meanwhile, the almost-black color and rough texture of the bark contrasts beautifully with the lighter colors and smooth shine of the interior. This is truly a bowl that could only have been made from root wood, and whose beautifully organic interior shape could only be made by hand-carving.

6 inches in its two longest dimension and about 2 inches high (15 x 5 cm). A nice size for holding candies, miscellaneous desk items or simply to enjoy as a beautiful decoration. The wild grain, bright colors and unique shape of this bowl will make it a real stand-out display piece, wherever it's placed.
